Forget hot, we're staying cool.
For our brunettes
Two ways we're lightening and brightening up for spring while staying totally on trend with our silver and taupe blonde counterparts:
1. Add cool dimension: (center photos)
Whether your stylist employs a subtle babylight, deep shadowlight or dramatic balayage you can stay cool by adding a silver-blue toned glaze or hair gloss. For extra drama on lighter tones, add a charcoal 'smudge' at the roots.
Be sure your lightened areas are lifted to the palest blonde level, and keep your color looking super fresh with a silvery blue or purple-hued shampoo and conditioner.
2. Neutral tone on tone: (photo right)
If you don't want to use a lightener, or just want to soften and tone down already lightened pieces closer to your natural base color you can rock one of springs coolest tones: cool mushroom. A blend of soft, earthy, neutral browns, this tint gets even better once your skin has a little sun-kissed glow!

It's ice, ice baby! For those that haven't embraced platinum silver, another blonding option is to go a little deeper and more earth-toned with taupe and mushroom bronde tones. To get this look, ask your stylist to blend in some light ash brown babylights or even streaky low lights if you're more into the surfer-girl look.
The same maintenance rules go for cool blondes though; you must use a toning shampoo and conditioner daily to prevent yellow tones from peeking through.
So stay cool and go neutral into spring.
